Get ready for a surreal and thought-provoking journey as POLY returns to the stage this February! Following its successful Phase 1 launch, tickets for Phase 2 of POLY are now on sale for its highly anticipated run at Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) from 6th to 16th February 2025. This absurdist, surrealist play promises to take audiences on a wild ride through deception, obsession, and turmoil. But the question remains: Will they escape?

Written by Ian Skatu, co-producer of the sold-out Silk & String: The Truth About Bullying (90% sold out) and The Human Exhibit: Mentalhealth (100% sold out), POLY is a bold, innovative production that explores the fragmented nature of human experience. Produced in collaboration with FSKi Works, POLY builds on the creative success of the company’s recent win at the 2024 Short+Sweet Festival (Musical Theatre), where they took home multiple awards including Best Musical Director, Best Newcomer, and the Artistic Director’s Award for their absurdist musical Mrs. Paul.

What is POLY?

POLY explores three distinct interpretations of the word “poly”—polygraph, polygon, and polygamy—each symbolizing a unique facet of the human experience. These themes unfold through three interconnected stories:

  • Polygraph: A criminal’s attempt to deceive a relentless detective, where the pursuit of truth becomes a game of high-stakes mind tricks.
  • Polygon: A chaotic cult obsessed with materialism, each member fighting to outdo the others in a race for the most possessions.
  • Polygamy: A troubled couple faces the shock and anger of infidelity, forcing one spouse to confront painful truths and seek a way forward.

Through these narratives, POLY invites audiences into a world where communication is broken, truths are blurry, and everything feels increasingly surreal. As the characters struggle with their inner turmoil, physical excess, and emotional overload, the play asks: How do we navigate a world that feels disorienting and fractured?

With sharp humor and a sense of mystery, POLY pushes the boundaries of theatre, leaving the audience to question their own reality and the world around them. By the end, you’ll be laughing, reflecting, and perhaps wondering: Is this distorted reality so far removed from our own?

A Sneak Peek into POLY

Excerpt from the play:

  • Polygraph:
“You sat down, got impatient. Started tapping your feet. Tap tap tap tap tap. 50 beats per minute… What are you so impatient about? You’re not married. Not anymore at least. That ring mark is faded. I’m sorry ‘bout that, she must’ve been nice.”
  • Polygon:
“Let not you plow through the snow of mash people. For they are inveggers. Inveggers of thy womb. The flesh and the sword of shame.”
  • Polygamy:
“All these thoughts rush through me: What should I do? Should I leave her? Should I stay? Forgive? Forget? What? Death by spaghetti cutlery. On one hand, she’s right. I am always working. On the other hand, it’s wrong… right? People do get lonely.
