“To be frank, I would be better off dead. I was a very active person, so having a stroke was like losing my freedom more than anything else – not being able to do the things I used to do.
It pains me a lot that I couldn’t enjoy diving, dancing or travelling anymore. Now, I “dive” by watching documentaries. It was a big achievement for me to travel to Bangkok with my husband last year.
I told my husband if it happens again, don’t save me. But after rehab, I realized there’s life after stroke.
And a good thing happened after my stroke – to be honest, I’m crazy about the k-pop group, BTS. I discovered them after my stroke, and I just fell in love with their music and dance moves. They’re one of the reasons I get up each morning and I just wished I could dance like them!
I’m happy where I am now. I may not be who I am before, but I have progressed so much from 3 years ago and I can now say that I’m a stroke survivor. Nothing is a bed of roses, but with love and care from friends and family, you will make it.”
