Le French Festival 2024 is back from 29 May!

This year’s celebration highlights the values of sport, family, and inclusivity, uniting Malaysian and French cultures. Organized by the Alliances Françaises de Malaisie and the Embassy of France in Malaysia, the festival will run from 29 May to 14 July across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kuching, fostering deeper connections with the local community.

The festival promises an exciting lineup of events catering to diverse interests, including cinema, digital art, music, dance, theatre, and gastronomy. With sports as the central theme, echoing the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Le French Festival 2024 offers something for everyone.

Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:

  • Cinematic Delights: Enjoy a curated selection of 16 French movies, including family-friendly options like Epic Tails and The Little Nicholas.
  • The Digital Adventure: Immerse yourself in cinema and digital art with short film screenings, virtual reality games, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • French Celebrations: Join the festivities with Fête de la musique on 23 June and French National Day on 14 July, featuring music, food, and drinks.
  • Sporting Events: Participate in The Little Champions, Breaking Battles, and a Fun Run through Titiwangsa Park.
  • Arts for Everyone: Experience theatre plays, concerts, exhibitions, workshops, and more throughout the festival.

Le French Festival 2024 aims to engage the Malaysian audience by collaborating with local authorities and venturing into popular locations like Titiwangsa Park and the KL Car Free Morning route.

The schedule has been adapted to accommodate families and individuals of all ages and abilities.

His Excellency Mr. Axel Cruau, Ambassador of France to Malaysia, emphasized the festival’s focus on sport, family, and inclusivity during the press conference. Mr. Laurent Elisio Bordier, Executive Director of Alliance Française of Kuala Lumpur, highlighted AFKL’s commitment to engaging more Malaysians in the festival by partnering with local communities.

Ms. Mathilde Tallin, Cultural Manager of Alliance Française of Kuala Lumpur, discussed the diverse program of Le French Festival 2024, offering a fusion of cinema, visual arts, performing arts, participative experiences, children’s activities, and culinary delights.

Ms. Pauline Goh, President of Alliance Française de Penang, expressed excitement about the vibrant festivities planned for Penang, including concerts, exhibitions, tournaments, VR experiences, and film screenings.

Le French Festival 2024 is made possible with the support of sponsors including L’Oréal Paris, Cartier, PAUL Malaysia, and Safran, reaffirming their commitment to promoting arts and culture.
