On March 23, something truly heartwarming happened in Rawang. In the spirit of Ramadan, Astro Shaw and Mirinda came together to host a meaningful Iftar for 40 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur.
Held just outside Kuala Lumpur, the event was more than just a buka puasa meal—it was a celebration of community, kindness, and connection. The children received duit raya and gift hampers, and were joined by familiar faces from Astro Shaw’s upcoming shows and films, who took time to bond, laugh, and share the evening with them.
Actors from productions like Keluang Man, Abah Saya Uncle Mike, One Cent Thief 2, and First Wives lit up the evening with their presence. Among them were Nas Muammar Zar, Anwaar Beg Moghal, Shweta Sekhon, Andy Teh, Azira Shafinaz, and many more. One very special guest was the real-life inspiration behind Abah Saya Uncle Mike, Uncle Mike himself, who came with his three sons—Rafei, Rasyid, and Rahman.
“We’re honoured to celebrate the holy month by giving back,” said Raja Jastina Raja Arshad, Head of Astro Shaw. “At the end of the day, what matters most is being able to bring joy and share blessings with others. That’s what Ramadan is all about.”
The event also included the premiere of Balik Rayaaahhh, Mirinda’s exclusive Raya trailer for the upcoming film Abah Saya Uncle Mike—a touching story about a Chinese father raising his adopted Malay sons, a beautiful reflection of Malaysia’s rich diversity.
Amy Gan, Vice President of Marketing at Etika (Mirinda’s parent company), shared, “We’re not just celebrating Raya—we’re celebrating unity. Events like this remind us what it means to come together as a community, no matter our background.”
The Iftar was made possible with the support of brands like 7UP, Wonda Coffee, and Goodday Charge, and it’s just one part of a larger Ramadan and Raya campaign by Astro Shaw and Mirinda. Throughout the season, fans will also get the chance to meet their favorite stars at various events, join exclusive contests, and even audition for Astro’s upcoming drama Bad Cop.
And there’s more festive cheer to go around—Mirinda is giving away RM260,000 in e-Duit Raya through their Riang Raya Bersama-Sama contest, which runs until the end of April.
Keep your eyes peeled for Astro Shaw’s upcoming releases:

In the end, it’s these moments—of laughter, generosity, and shared humanity—that remind us what Ramadan is truly about.
