Kuala Lumpur, September, 2024 — The Actors Studio Foundation is concluding its debut season with an innovative and thought-provoking trilogy, “Trilogi Bulan,” running from September 12 to 15, 2024, at indicine, klpac.

This triple bill offers a deep dive into a dystopian future where humanity, having ravaged Earth, turns to the Moon in hope of salvation. The trilogy begins with the return of ‘Orang Bulan,’ which was first met with acclaim in 2021, and continues with two new plays: ‘Penakluk Bulan’ and ‘Pemusnah Bulan.’ Crafted by celebrated playwright Yusof Bakar, this series explores the human condition and the challenges of starting anew on the Moon, questioning whether human greed and ambition will once again lead to ruin.

Director Christopher Ling, who also serves as The Actors Studio’s Associate Artistic Director, shares, “The journey began with a striking photograph of two sisters in a coma due to Resignation Syndrome. From this powerful image, we’ve developed a trilogy that delves into themes of familial love, climate change, and the rise of Artificial Intelligence. Our narrative examines whether the Moon can offer humanity a fresh start or if it will succumb to the same fate as Earth.”

The production features a fresh cast including Nik Waheeda, Hazzy Alzeeq, Sunio Rushairi, and Aidil Rosli. Set design by scenographer Shahrul Skye and an evocative soundscape by composer Kirthana Kuhendran will bring this futuristic world to life.

Yusof Bakar, despite starting his career in Human Resource Management, has become a significant figure in Malaysian theatre with over 50 plays and numerous awards. “Trilogi Bulan” wraps up The Actors Studio Foundation’s “Kembali Ke Pangkuan” season, marking a step forward in expanding and diversifying the theatre landscape in Kuala Lumpur.

Tickets for “Trilogi Bulan” are priced at RM50, with a concession rate of RM40 for students, seniors, and disabled individuals. Students can also take advantage of a special offer: one free ticket for every 10 tickets purchased. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.cloudjoi.com.
