Picture this: a sea of blue flooding Mega Star Arena KL at Sungei Wang Plaza on April 20th, where 5,000 fans eagerly awaited the return of South Korean pop-rock sensation CNBLUE. After nearly ten years, the band graced Malaysia with their presence as part of their ‘CNBLUENTITY’ Asia tour.
The excitement was palpable as fans donned blue attire and accessories, including twinkling blue lights as rings provided by the fan club. The anticipation reached a fever pitch as the stage lights flickered to life, signaling the imminent arrival of the band. With smartphones poised to capture every moment, the crowd erupted into cheers as CNBLUE took the stage promptly at 8 pm.
Lead singer Jung Yonghwa, alongside bassist Lee Jungshin and drummer Kang Minhyuk, basked in the adoration of their fans as they launched into their opening song, “I’m A Loner”. Despite the language barrier, the crowd enthusiastically sang along, showcasing their unwavering support for the band.
Following the electrifying performance, CNBLUE took a moment to express their gratitude to their loyal fans, affectionately known as Boice. They reminisced about their previous visits to Malaysia, expressing their joy at returning to the country after a long hiatus.
“Mantap!” they exclaimed, beaming proudly as they praised their fans. Amidst the cheers, the band eagerly embraced an impromptu Malay lesson from the crowd, learning phrases like “Mantap gila!” and “Janji!”, symbolizing their promise to return soon.
Noticing the vibrant blue hue emanating from the audience, CNBLUE playfully remarked on their own fashion choices, with Jungshin defending their eclectic outfits and Minhyuk pointing out subtle nods to the color blue.
Throughout the concert, CNBLUE engaged in playful banter with the crowd, showcasing their camaraderie and rapport. While Yonghwa charmed the audience with his witty remarks, Jungshin expressed his disdain for smartphones, drawing laughter from the crowd.
During a lighthearted game of Rock, Paper, Scissors, Minhyuk and Jungshin found themselves adorned with comical fake mustaches, much to the delight of the audience. The playful antics continued as CNBLUE performed fan-favorite songs, captivating the crowd with their infectious energy.
As the concert drew to a close, chants for an encore filled the air, prompting CNBLUE to return to the stage for one final performance. The band closed the show with “Love Girl”, a fitting tribute to their journey as they bid farewell to their Malaysian fans.
After three hours of non-stop excitement, the concert concluded on a high note, leaving both the band and fans longing for more. As the lights dimmed and the crowd dispersed, the memories of CNBLUE’s unforgettable performance lingered, a testament to the enduring bond between the band and their devoted fans.
