Educating & Motivating Prisoners (Ladies) to be Entrepreneurs through Culinary Programs

An initiative by KDYTM Tengku Puan Pahang and Resorts World Genting

“Through an initiative of Kebawah Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum AlMutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj and collaboration from Resorts World Genting, we would like to invite you to a once in the lifetime experience at the Bentong Prison where Chef Alex Vitalise will be sharing his different methods of cooking using the recipe from KDYTM Tengku Puan Pahang’s recipe book titled “Air Tangan Tengku Puan Pahang: Masakan Tradisional Pahang” with the prisoners.

The objective of this programme is to educate and motivate prisoners to be entrepreneurs through culinary programs such as this when they finish their term in the prison.  Using Tengku Puan’s recipe we hope to entice the ladies by showcasing various ways in preparing different dishes.

This event will be held at the Pastry Workshop of Bentong Prison, Pahang at 10.00am (full program below). The event will be attended by KDYTM Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah, Ybhg. KP Dato’ Ab Basir bin Mohamad (Pahang State Director), Ybhg KP Dato’ Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Razali (Director of Pahang State Prison), Ybhg KJP Dato’ Sakeri bin Haji Dollah (Director of Vocational and Industry Division), Ybhg KJP Dato’ Sri Haji Zulkifli Bin Omar (Director of Malaysian Prison) and Chef Alex Vitalise (Resorts World Genting’s Executive Chef)” – Official Media Press Statement

"There's no gym. We work from 7 am until 6pm, making these textiles (songkets) and they take a lot of time to make. We are then free afterwards."

"I have 3 more years to go before I go free. This is a good chance to pass the time."
